On the occasion of the Mother's Day which took place on 29 May and the Father's Day On 19 June, what are the French people's favourite gifts?
A Toluna survey of 2014 people over the age of 18 reveals what the trends are this year.
Firstly, the Mother's Day is more present in the hearts of the French than Father's Day. More than 8 out of 10 people plan to give a gift or visit their mother, compared to only 66% for fathers. Flowers and other plants remain the most popular gifts for mothers with 50% of the surveys. The next most popular gifts are beauty gifts, perfumes, cosmetics (34.6%), then the sweets and chocolates. As for decorative objects and cultural products, they have lost ground this year.
For the dadsOnce again, it is wine and spirits who dominate the ranking (30%). For the men too, perfumes and other beauty products climb to second place this year with 18.8% of purchase intention. Cultural products came third, ahead of the gift certificates and vouchers. New this year, high-tech gifts are going backwards.
On the side of the parents who will receive the gifts, they are perfumes and cosmetics which are at the top of the wish list this year.
Finally, in 2016, the French intend to slightly reduce their Mother's and Father's Day gift budget with 52.31 euros and 49.67 euros on average, i.e. about 3% less than last year.
