In theory, Apple Pay can be used on any terminal that accepts contactless payment (in France, this represents almost 400,000 points of sale).
In 2015, there were 22 million contactless payments. The average purchase amount of €10.5 vs. €45 for an average bank card payment amount. Yet there are 40 million bank cards equipped with contactless technology (60% of the total) but only 3% of transactions are made with contactless.
So the growth potential is significant !
But the feeling of insecurity is persistent. Apple has therefore clarified that each transaction has a unique number and that banking information is not stored on the devices or on its servers.
